New Zealand Working Holiday Visa – WHV Guide

The New Zealand Working Holiday Visa (WHM Visa) allows young people between the 18 to 30 year olds to travel and work casually in New Zealand for up to 12 or 23 months. It is currently available to citizens of 35 countries as following :
Asia :
China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore (work exchange programme), Taiwan, Thailand
Europe
Belgium, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom
North and South America:
Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru, United States of America, Uruguay
Under the Working Holiday programme in New Zealand, the main purpose of your visit must be holiday, but you are entitled to take up temporary employment during your stay to help fund your travels. So you are not permitted to take up permanent employment. Working holiday makers could prove they worked at a minimum 3 months in the horticulture or viticulture industries could get a visa extension and stay in New Zealand for another 3 months.
You are eligible for a NZ Working Holiday Visa if:
- You are aged between 18 and 30 years old.
- You hold a passport from an eligible country
- You’re not no dependent children with you.
- You have not been granted a Working Holiday Visa to New Zealand before
- You have sufficient funds to support yourself on arrival in New Zealand
- You have a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase one
